The Jolly Machine

Sub-titled Songs of Industrial Protest and Social Discontent from the West Midlands. This book contains some excellent but little known songs and have been selected from the great outpouring of popular verse that has accompanied the Industrial Revolution in the West Midlands. Titles include: Waiting for Wages *The Tommy Note *Colliers’ Rant * The Poor of Rowley *Nailmakers’ Strike *Thirteen pence a day *The Dudley Boys, etc. Many of the 23 songs have been recorded on the CD MR77 The Halliard:Jon Raven/The Jolly Machine £13.00.
